Sing with us
We are listening for new voices
Christian Voices Chorale sings the Sunday morning English Mass at St. Mary’s Parish Church, Dubai, and has done so since 2005. We sing in four sections — soprano, alto, tenor and bass — and we welcome singers who share our calling and can commit to Sunday service.
Who can join
We sing as the Filipino choral ministry of St. Mary’s Parish Church, under Buklod Tinig. Members are Filipino, baptised Catholic, and eighteen or over.
What we look for
Musicality, maturity, and the willingness to keep showing up. Previous choral or instrumental experience helps, but it is not required — several of our strongest singers arrived with none. Beyond the voice, we look for singers who embrace the mission of the choir and are ready to serve through it.
What it asks of you
Rehearsals are every Sunday, immediately after the 6:00 a.m. Mass at St. Mary’s. Call time is 5:30 a.m. — early, and we will not pretend otherwise. Once a month we gather for spiritual formation. Additional rehearsals are called before concerts and major feasts.
It is a real commitment. It is also, for most of us, the best part of the week.
How joining works
- Audition. Our Musical Director hears you sing. You will know the result the following day.
- Traineeship. Four consecutive Sundays with the choir, each new singer paired with a buddy from their section.
- The final exam. On the fifth Sunday, a quartet exam on the English Mass responses.
- Welcome. Successful trainees are confirmed as members, and your Section Head takes it from there.
Ask to be heard
Tell us your voice part if you know it, a little about your singing, and when you are free to be heard. You are also welcome simply to come and listen — we sing at 6:00 a.m. every Sunday, and no invitation is needed.
